Philosophy / Mission

The community believes that the successful education of our children is a collective responsibility. It is a partnership involving the child, the school and the home as well as the greater community.

We encourage our students to become lifelong learners, to accept responsibility, to show self-discipline and to strive to attain even higher levels, to blossom as creative individuals, and to become responsible and contributing members of society.


General Information

Nestled in one of the valleys in the Upper Laurentians, Arundel Elementary School is located approximately 17 kilometers south of the St-Jovite, Mont-Tremblant area on Highway 327. The school has a strong tradition of bilingual education.


Parent Participation

Parents are active members of our school community. Whether through the Governing Board or our vibrant Home and School Organization, parents are involved and committed to the success of Arundel's academic programs and activities.


Programs

Arundel Elementary School offers a bilingual program from Kindergarten to Cycle Three. Kindergarten is taught 60% in English and 40% in French. Cycle I students learn French, Music, Arts and Éducation Physique en français. Cycles II and III students are also taught Éducation Physique, Arts Visuel, Arts Dramatique et Éthiques tous en français. In Math, the students are taught using Digit, Mathletics and other online Math programs. In English Language Arts, some of our programs include Literacy Place (K-6), Jolly Phonics, Sound Prints, EPIC, Abracadabra, writing workshops and various novels. Students participate in a full range of academic programs and activities.

Arundel Elementary provides the following services:

  • Resource teachers for English, Math and French

  • School psychologist

  • Behaviour technician

  • Speech Therapist

  • Attendants in class


Facilities

Arundel Elementary classrooms are equipped with Interactive whiteboards as well as ipads and/or laptops for individual student use.


Events and activities

Our students are encouraged to participate in community projects. Students have been involved in Winter Activity Program (Ski-Skate-Snowshoe), Interschool basketball, Social Circus, Improvisation Workshops, Christmas Choir, just to name a few. A Christmas food drive, Remembrance Day, Harvest Lunch and activities at the Arundel Nature Centre are organized throughout the school year.
